Can you believe that Jarek is one year old already? And that it has been almost a year since I last updated this blog.
I have been thinking recently that I wanted to update everyone since I have so many new followers, but it is so hard to draw the line to clearly describe what I am feeling and how things have changed in my life.
I feel SO so blessed that we have a healthy one year old. A sweet, loving and happy boy that always smiles and laughs. He is so smart and knows so many words! He loves helicopters and airplanes (no surprise!) He loves animals and nature and being outdoors. He loves people and books and music. He dances and boogies down to all sorts of tunes and his favorite shows are Chuggington, Curious George and Daniel Tiger.
So what else? He has 7 teeth with his 8th popping through. He is so busy and gets into EVERYTHING! He is healthy at 31" tall and 24lbs at his one year check up (89% percentile!!!)
He says many words including Daddy, Mommy, Doggy, Ya, Tractor, Truck, Airplane...It is amazing how much he picks up on.
I have been settling in as well as I can. Being quite honest, becoming a mom is such a new challenge. My "freedom" has disappeared because to even leave the house it is planning a full trip of meals, drinks, toys, clothes, diapers and his Epi-Pen. (allergy to egg whites early on, not sure if he outgrew this yet!)
I haven't been working nearly as much and the transition from working woman (pilot, teacher, independent career woman) has shifted dramatically to a part time worker and full time Mom. I barely have help watching Jarek because I hate to abuse my relationships in the family by asking. And since I don't ever intend on putting Jarek in daycare, it is only family that watches him.
I am so lucky to have a strong relationship with Matt that has gotten us through sleepless nights, teething baby spells, tummy pains and all the other distress that comes with a newborn to infant transition. Matt and I are still strongly in love and we take time to show each other that we are still in this relationship for love and adventure.
I have been having some struggles lastly with the next steps for my frozen embryo's and what our plan is to keep our family the same size or maybe consider growing it by just one more baby.
I adored being pregnant, I love the idea of having a sibling for Jarek, and we do have 6 more "snowflakes" that could be a little boy and girl. This is a personal decision that Matt and I will have to make together.
For now, we are enjoying the joys of our one year old miracle. Every day he gets bigger and bigger.
Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned, you never know what might happen :)
