We were so happy to see that he is growing properly and the doctor says he is looking like a healthy little chap!
Jarek's belly button stump fell off on Sunday and this was quite a relief for me. It started smelling a few days back and that was at the same time he broke out in an unknown rash. So, back to the pediatrician for us and guess where we ended up? Yup, you got it.... Childrens' ER again. Sigh. Luckily, we got a clean bill of health, they cauterized the belly button stump to help with the oozing and said that the rash was a normal newborn rash. Phew!
We ended up back at home (so thankful!) and now, his belly button is well on the way to being a real button :)
What else: Jarek feeds every 2 hours like clockwork. No wonder he is growing so fast! I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't 8 lbs currently. We are going through about 15 diapers or more a day and thankfully they are cloth. It is quite easy to manage as we have a decent system figured out by doing a load of them a day. The best part about breastfeeding, is that the poo doesn't even smell. One thing of note? This baby can pee! He has so many wet diapers, I wonder how much fluid he has in his body!
What about Mom? Well, I am still struggling with a few post partum issues. To be blunt: constipation (even though I am on a stool softener), sore, tender nipples (thanks breastfeeding chomp monster...aka: Jarek). I have started pumping in the mornings to build up some stock, this way I can have some free time off from chomp monster. I have taken to calling him my baracuda. I still have PP bleeding and last night, I passed an enormous clot of tissue (sorry, TMI!) It worried me enough to call the midwife at 3am. She feels it really isn't an issue, but I'm going to keep my eye on how I feel throughout the day. I don't have a fever or any other symptoms, so maybe that was just the last of the membrane passing out? Sleep comes at a premium so I steal naps away when I can. Getting up every two hours at night does take its toll. Lastly, my weight is just falling off of me. I cannot believe I haven't even tried yet to exercise, and I am already back in my regular jeans.
Today we are just relaxing because of the clot scare last night, but I hope to get some groceries in the house if I can by day's end. Hoping everyone is well and keep your eyes to your mailboxes...something is coming your way hopefully by next week :)
